The word Qurbani derives from the word ‘Qurb’, which means ‘Closeness’. By sacrificing in the name of Allah, we become closer to Allah (SWT) and His creation, which is the essence of Qurbani.
‘‘The Prophet (PBUH) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah and [his] Prophethood’’
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offered two Qurbanis in the name of Allah, one for himself and one for the people of Ummah, who could not afford to give one. As Muslims, we follow the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to get abundant rewards. Prophetic Qurbani is the Qurbani that a person gives not for himself but for the Ummah, following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
‘’Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone will have a reward equivalent to that of those among the people who act upon it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.‘’
To give Prophetic Qurbani, you simply have to offer 2 Qurbanis on the day of Eid Ul Adha. It is a forgotten sunnah that needs to be revived.
Giving Prophetic Qurbani is a special act because, by doing this, we are following the Sunnah, which not only brings us rewards but also helps those who do not have the ability to do Qurbani for themselves. Every act of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is full of wisdom and thoughtfulness. As Muslims, we can follow in his golden footsteps to bring joy into the lives of others. By doing this, we can help deserving people by distributing meat to those who do not have access to it throughout the year.
‘‘There is nothing dearer to Allah during the days of Qurbani than the sacrificing of animals. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Judgement with its horns, hair, and hooves (to be weighed on a person’s good deeds). Before the blood reaches the ground, Allah accepts the sacrifice. Therefore, sacrifice with an open and happy heart’’. (Tirmidhi)
The real purpose of Qurbani is to help the needy, whether it is a normal Qurbani or a Prophetic Qurbani. The people who are eligible to receive the meat of the Qurbani are:
SKZ Foundation promises to carry out the 100% Qurbani policy, which is that all the meat from the Qurbani Animal will be distributed among the needy on the same day of Eid Ul Adha.
